The Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC), located in the heart of the Niagara Region, is thrilled to be hosting the 2013 Junior and Under 23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in August 2013! The Recreational Waterway is the perfect location, with some of the most placid and beautiful flatwater in the world and nearly 8km of uninterrupted flatwater, consistent depth and basin-like characteristics!

The course is more than 100 metres wide with multiple access points for safety. Paved asphalt trails for viewing and safety considerations border each side of the course which is supplied with clean, fresh water of the highest quality.

The Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC)

The Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC) North Course will be the host venue for the 2013 ICF Junior and  U23 World Championships.  

With nearly 8km of uninterrupted flatwater, consistent depth and basin-like characteristics, as well as some of the most placid and beautiful flatwater in the world-the Welland International Flatwater Centre and Recreational Waterway is the perfect location for the 2013 Junior and Under 23 Canoe Sprint World Championships!

The Welland Recreational Waterway boasts some of the cleaniest water available at any sports venue in the world and is the city's source of drinking water!

Shoreline Festival

Canoe Niagara will feature a Shoreline Festival which will showcase the unique heritage and multi-cultural background of Welland and the Niagara Region. The Festival will involve food vendors, beer and wine garden, live music, buskers, local artisans, merchandisers, ethnic and cultural displays, a paintable mural for children highlighting the disciplines of Canoe Niagara, face painters, and much more.  For spectators and visitors to Welland, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening a special ticketed concert series will take place at the scenic Merritt Park Ampitheatre in downtown Welland in conjunction with IlluminAqua. Renowned musicians will be performing at these events that overlook the spectacular view of the Old Welland Canal.
