"A poignant show in which the Montreal-based writer/performer explored his heritage and journey from Iran to Paris to Canada." - NOW Magazine

Written and directed by Mani Soleymanlou
Presented by Orange Noyée

Mani Soleymanlou's ONE is a one-man show that portrays the autobiographical narrative the author constructed to understand his life. By exploring the stories that shaped his childhood and young life in Iran, Paris, Toronto and Montreal, Soleymanlou guides us through a novel immigrant experience of transition. As he tries to understand what makes him who he is, Soleymanlou considers the history of Iran and the living conditions of youth there today. By parsing his life against those in an oppressive Iranian context, Soleymanlou's narrative drives home the difficulties of determining who and what makes us into the people we are. These stories are both powerful and funny while pointing out the importance of telling our stories.
