Floral Clock Recognizes 100 Years of Power

The Niagara Parks Commission recognized Niagara Peninsula Energy for providing 100 years of reliable electrical power to the Niagara area. The recognition was in the form of displaying the power authorities logo in flowers planted in the face of the world-famous Floral Clock found in Queenston.

The NPC and Niagara Peninsula Energy (and their predecessors) have worked together since the Floral Clock was built in the 1950’s. The Parks take care of the gardens surround the clock and they also plant the 15,000 to 20,000 plants that make up the face of the clock. The power authority maintains the mechanical workings of the clock.

The NPC rarely allows space for any sort of logo, but Janice Thompson, Chair of the NPC said, “the relevance of the utility’s 100th anniversary was worth commemorating.”
