The Rainbow Bridge Formally Opened in1941

It was on November 1, 1941 that the Rainbow Bridge was opened becoming the largest hingeless arch bridge at the time in the world. This bridge was constructed to replace the Upper Steel Arch Bridge (Honeymoon Bridge) which was destroyed by an ice jam in 1938.It is located 183 metres (600 yards) downstream from the former bridge. It connects Canada and the United States and is within sight of both the American Falls and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls The Rainbow Bridge was built by the Province of Ontario and the State of New York and is administered by the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission.

If you walk across the bridge you’ll get spectacular view of these falls.
