An Unusual Airplane Ride at Niagara
During the Niagara Falls International Carnival held in June of 1911 locals and visitors near the Upper Steel Arch Bridge (now the location of the Rainbow Bridge) were amazed to see an airplane fly under this bridge. The plane known as the Flying Machine was piloted by Lincoln Beachy, a daredevil folks called the Flying Fool. On June 28 and 29 Beachy put on several more shows flying over the falls, under the bridge and above the lower Niagara Gorge.
Chances are pretty good you won't see this happen today.
