GranFondo Niagara Falls Embraced by Community
Event registration hits 1000 mark after just three weeks
NIAGARA FALLS, ON, February 7, 2013
After just three weeks since registration opened, organizers are delighted to announce that registration has hit the 1,000 mark for the GranFondo Niagara Falls cycling event. The inaugural ride will take place on Saturday, September 14th.
“The response from the cycling community has been absolutely tremendous,” said Kevin Thomson, president of GranFondo Canada. “We are truly humbled and absolutely committed to making this event as spectacular as we’ve dreamed.”
The 125 km route will take cyclists into the heart of the Niagara Region, including wine country and several climbs of the Niagara Escarpment. One of the most exciting elements of the ride will include the complete closure of the Niagara Parkway at the start and a dedicated traffic-free lane for the entire course, allowing thousands of riders the chance to ride at their own pace from start to finish.
Riders from across Canada and the US are represented among those already signed up.
The Special Launch Price of $199 was to be concluded once a thousand entrants was reached. But, in celebration of reaching this number so early, GranFondo Canada is extending the offer to Monday, February 11 at 11:59 pm. After that, the cost of entry will increase to $225.
