Why Not a Marilyn Monroe "Niagara" Tour
A few days ago I had a couple Chris and Kathie Carmen of Toronto contact me to talk about the book I had written in 1998 called, “Marilyn Monroe and the Making of Niagara.” The book is now out of print. Both are big Marilyn fans. I decided to take them on a whirlwind tour of some of the places where the movie Niagara was filmed in Niagara Falls in June of 1952. I believe it turned out to be a big hit. This isn’t the first time I’ve done such a tour. There are literally millions of Marilyn fans throughout the world.
It made me start to think, why hasn’t some smart tour operator created such a tour? I’d be pleased to help develop this tour. Most of the places where the filming took place are still around. I’ve attached one of my photographs of one of those locations found in my book. It’s taken at the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls which is still very much here today. Just a thought.
Incidentally, I’ll be giving a free talk at the Niagara Falls Public Library at 4848 Victoria Avenue on Monday, September 28th at 7 p.m. on interesting facts about the making of this movie. The library has asked that you contact them at 905-356-8080 and let them know you’ll be attending.
