Cycling in Niagara

Cycling in Niagara

While the Niagara Region is synonymous with lush vineyards and world-renowned wine, the area also boasts over 300 kilometres of cycling trails, with Niagara Falls at the centre of it all.

Whether you rent a bike or BYOB (bring your own BIKE), there are tons of great trails, bike friendly restaurants and self-guided tours to suit every level of cyclist. The Falls connects the Niagara River Recreation Trail, which offers over 53 kilometers (32 miles) of breathtaking views, including the Niagara Glen and Whirlpool, finishing in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.

If this doesn’t get your wheels spinning, get a group together and cycle through Niagara Wine Country! Feel the wind on your face as you ride past farmlands and vineyards, with some wineries offering to deliver your purchases back to your hotel!

These and many more trails evolve seasonally, delivering a new thrill for every ride and making Niagara cycling a must experience.

Greater Niagara Circle Route

While you can also walk, run or rollerblade through this 140 km route, the Greater Niagara Circle Route is a cyclist favourite.  The picturesque ride will take you through seven of Niagara's twelve municipalities, including a stretch along the Niagara Parkway that puts you beside Niagara Falls.  The paved waterfront trail is surrounded by Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, the Niagara River and the Welland Canal, leading you through the lush greenery of the Niagara Escarpment - truly embodying the area's diversity.

The Greater Niagara Circle Route also shares its path with The Great Trail - a national trail that links 15,000 communities along 24,000 km, from West Coast to East Coast.
