Want to know the time of day and don’t have a watch? Then a visit to the grounds of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens on the upper Niagara Parkway will help solve this problem. This is also the location of the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory and School of Horticulture. Just ask one of the students who maintain these lovely grounds where you can find the horizontal sundial.

On a bright sunny day this past week I stumbled upon the sundial and was amazed at how accurate the sundial was in telling the time.

The sundial works by casting its style onto a surface marked with lines indicating the hours of the day.

While you’re at the gardens you’ll see all kinds of new growth. I t looks like spring really is here.
