General Brock is 87 on July 1st
That’s the General Brock Hotel in Niagara Falls. It was on July 1st, 1929 that the then first high rise Niagara Falls hotel opened. The new hotel consisted of eleven floors which towered over the landscape. This 20,000 square foot hotel had 247 bedrooms and 50 cots plus 16 stores,290 telephones and two elevators.
Two additional floors in later years were added by the Sheraton Hotel chain.
Today, the original General Brock Hotel has been complexly renovated and re-named the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This historic hotel still maintains the charm of its earlier years.
