Snakes Alive at the Butterfly Conservatory
My wife Ellen and I went for a walk this past weekend along the Niagara River Recreation Trail and ended up at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory north of the falls.
We were surprised to see just inside the front doors of the attraction a man holding a Python. Kevin Dungey of Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo in Ottawa explained that the 2 year old python was part of a display of venomous animals, amphibians and snakes that is being showcased at the conservatory until May 12th.
There is a free public educational exhibit of these creatures just outside the entrance to the conservatory. There are more creatures inside the conservatory amongst the large number of free-flying butterflies.
It turned out to be a great spot to warm up from the cold and to educate ourselves a bit more about many of these misunderstood creatures.
